She felt like a fool. A damned old fool. Making the decision to come to his condo hadn’t been easy. She’d gone back and forth in her mind, reasoning it out. In the end, though, it came down to how he made her feel. Sexy. Desired. Wanted.

She’d thrown all caution to the wind and finally, for once in her life, she did something because she wanted to. This was her life, her one and only chance to live it the way she wanted. She’d resolved to not let the fear of what people thought about her dictate her decisions any longer. Not Sonja, not anyone.

And now she’d made a spectacle of herself. She couldn’t help but laugh. “How in the world are you going to show me who I am?”

The edge of Reed’s lips lifted as he cupped her face in his large hands. “Do you trust me, Mar?”

“Trust you? Reed, what…”

“It’s an easy question. Either you trust me, or you don’t.”

She looked in his eyes and knew she did. “Yes, I trust you. But—”

He didn’t let her finish. “Do you want me?” His eyes darkened as they bounced from her eyes to her lips and back again.

“Reed…”

“A simple yes or no will do.”

Marilee squeezed her eyes shut and sighed. “You’re killing me here.” She opened them and was struck immediately by the lust on his face. Or was that something else? Something more? “Yes, Reed, I want you. God help me, I do. As much as it may complicate both of our lives, I do want you.”

“No complications. If you trust me and want me, everything else will fall into place.”

He kissed her, slowly at first, then more demanding. She moaned softly in his mouth, feeling the incredible heat from his kiss move straight through her body to settle between her legs. She reveled in the throbbing, the wetness. An intense desire coursed through her, and she raised herself on her toes to deepen the kiss.

“Good God Almighty.” His breath came in short gasps as he settled his forehead onto hers. “What you do to me, woman.”

She smiled at the comment, thrilled with the knowledge she did this to him.

“Come here, I want to show you something.” He grabbed her hand and positioned her in front of the huge full-length mirror in the corner.

“What?”

Moving her to face her reflection, he stood behind her, running his hands along her arms. Lowering his mouth to her ear, he whispered, ”I want to show you what I see whenever I look at you, Marilee.” He slowly lowered the zipper at the back of her dress. “I want you to watch yourself come apart for me and I want you to watch what it does to me when you do.”
